Judy Ferry Testimony
Why do I love Crossfit? . . .
I love the fact that the Crossfit WODS can be scaled to any individual’s beginning ability level, whatever that may be. This was especially important to me, since I had spent all of my life struggling with obesity, with no level of fitness whatsoever. I had never been involved in sports or really in any kind of physical activity, even as a kid. This is the state I was in when I found Crossfit (or rather Crossfit and Dan Staton found me!) It has been fun and challenging to be able to measure the progress of myself getting leaner and stronger; sometimes only by tiny increments, but other times by leaps and bounds.
I love the constantly varied and functional nature, as well as the intensity, of the CF WODS. I’ve been doing this 5 days a week for well over a year now, and I still come into the gym with butterflies every day, wondering what we are going to be doing that day! The intensity of the workouts keeps things exciting and challenging and is directly related to amazing results. I love that one of the things that CF focuses on is keeping the movements functional. While the focus of my journey over the last few years initially started out being all about weight loss; (the “number on the scale”), the functional nature of CF and how that applies to every day living is what will keep me coming back for the rest of my life!
The most important aspect of Crossfit for me is the sense of Community that is so prevalent in the CF world. As I mentioned earlier, I had battled obesity nearly all of my life, and had tried dozens of “diets” and/or exercise programs, with minimal, and very temporary success. When the CF program was first presented to me, I was very skeptical about the “group” aspect of the workouts . . . Would I be able to keep up? Would I be judged by how out of shape I was? Was this going to be one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life? But I trusted Dan and agreed to give it a whirl . . .
And I can now say for a fact, that this group that I was so worried about being accepted by, is the very thing that from Day 1 has given me the support, encouragement and motivation that I need to succeed in reaching for my goals. This spirit begins with, and is cultivated by, Dan & Kenton and the rest of our incredible coaching staff at CFSV and CF/FTP, but is also a way of life that is represented on a daily basis by the members who make up the rest of the “CF Family”, and it crosses all boundaries of age, gender, background or ability level.
Now that I have lost nearly half of my body weight, I am constantly challenged to continually reach for new goals and levels of fitness that I never would have believed possible.
Crossfit is a program for Life (it very likely saved mine).
Crossfit is for Anyone & Everyone (look how far I’ve come . . . if I can, anyone can).
Crossfit gives us all of the Tools we need to See Results and Realize Success (the WODS, the Coaching, the Zone, the Family!)
How could anyone not love Crossfit?!?!?
More to come on Wendy’s incredible journey…

I don’t think anything is by chance. When the time was right, the right people were put into your life and you chose do what they knew you could.
Marietee and I are in awe of what you have accomplished and what we know you will accomplish. it’s fun to be part of the gang with you in it.

Thank you Judy for your encouraging words. My husband and I have just started doing the beginners crossfit workout and I have been extremely sceptical. I was concerned that I would just BULK up and not LOSE fat.
Seeing your pics and reading your words have given me hope and encouragement. We hope to be IN the crossfit gym soon, but right now the finances dont allow for us to be.
